INDONESIA BANKING - Crowded sector faces M&A drive

Central bank regulations to reduce the number of banks from an unmanageable 130 to 50 over the next seven years are luring new names into the sector, while existing players also eye acquisitions. While the rules are far from certain, the potential for profits in a foreign-dominated arena makes mergers inevitable. Lisa Murray reports.
