BoI under pressure ahead of rights issue
Bank of Ireland got off to a head start with its Eu3.4bn equity financing plan. A Eu500m placing of shares was up to three times covered on Monday thanks to strong interest from the US and Ireland. But worries about sovereign debt defaults put pressure on the bank’s shares ahead of a Eu1.885bn rights issue set for May. Are underwriters worried given the heightened sovereign risks?
