Bank spreads take hit as sovereign contagion hits
European bank cash bond and CDS spreads took a turn for the worse on Tuesday afternoon as panic spread from the peripheral European sovereign market into the financial institutions bond market. Bank trading desks have been unwilling to take positions and selling pressures have been like “pushing against an open door”.
