EC mandates ratings-based fees in GG overhaul
The European Commission has approved and extended government guarantee schemes for financial institutions debt in 19 member states beyond June 30, it said on Wednesday. Lower-rated banks will now face higher costs as the extension of guarantees from July 1 will come with tough new rules to encourage a move towards "gradual disengagement" of the scheme.
