Sovereign syndications drive supply to Eu25bn

Over Eu25bn of SSA supply was successfully absorbed this week as investors displayed appetite for sovereign and agency product. The highlight of the week is the Republic of France’s first syndicated OAT since February 2005 — a Eu6bn 30 year — which was 1.5 times oversubscribed. Ireland too had considerable success with a Eu6bn 10 year, which completes the borrower’s funding programme for 2009. And Belgium came to the market with a Eu5bn three year syndicated bond and, on the agency front, SFEF issued a Eu5bn five year.
