Chinese Estates Holdings, the property developer controlled by Hong Kong tycoon Joseph Lau, left bankers stunned last Friday (June 26) when it cancelled a $215m top-up share placement, but SRE Group and KWG Property later that week led successful deals showing that the move did not dampen the broader market.
