Doubts over Russian funding prospects — even for Gazprom

Even with deals being deals being flexed, restructured and postponed in Russia at the moment, borrowers are still sounding out banks on potential multi-billion dollar financings. The bluest of Russia’s blue chips, Gazprom, is understand to be lining up arrangers for a $4.2bn loan to increase its stake in Gazprom Neft, formerly Sibneft. Lenders are doubtful, however, about whether such a deal could gain traction in the current climate.
