Hybrids must absorb losses in crises to play a part in insurance tier one, says CEIOPS
The Committee of European Insurance & Occupational Pensions Supervisors (CEIOPS) said this week that hybrids only have a role to play in insurance companies’ capital structures if in times of stress they convert or write down to provide a higher quality of capital, i.e. equity.
