Sub debt, hybrids in line for downgrades as Fitch revises criteria

Basel III compliant and legacy Basel II hybrid capital instruments are in line for downgrades, Fitch said on Thursday, as it unveiled its proposed new ratings criteria for such securities. New style tier ones would be rated five notches below the issuer’s rating, while legacy tier ones and twos are likely to be cut by one or two notches.
