Alpha, EFG plan €1.25bn rights issue to support merger, Qatar puts up €500m
Greece’s Alpha Bank and EFG Eurobank plan to raise €3.9bn of capital, including undertaking a €1.25bn rights issue, to support a merger plan agreed on Monday. However, most of the core tier one generation is from internal sources — and none of the external injection, including €500m from Qatari investors, is due until well into next year.
