Thomas Cook troubles show darker outlook
Thomas Cook Group, the 170-year old travel agency, was this week facing a bank-led restructuring after shareholders dumped the stock on the company’s admission that it was seeking a larger loan amid tough trading conditions. It was a salutary reminder to firms approaching quarter- and year-end covenant tests to engage early with both lenders and shareholders — otherwise even an emergency rights issues could be too late.
