Aussie banks given time to boost liquidity
Australia’s banking regulator will give domestic banks just over three years to improve their short-term liquidity positions, in line with Basel III recommendations. The regulator has pushed Australian banks to meet changes to capital requirements well ahead of the Basel deadline — but analysts said the liquidity changes will be a lot harder to pull off.
