Senior stymied as peripheral outlook worsens
The chasm between core and peripheral European senior unsecured issuers was highlighted on Tuesday morning in the aftermarket performance of recent FIG transactions. BBVA’s 18 month fixed was trading more than 100bp wider than re-offer, while deals from HSBC, Standard Chartered and Svenska Handelsbanken were all tighter.
