The recent €2.1bn placement of RWE stock could become another casualty of this week’s difficult markets with the stock falling below the deal’s €26.00 offer price on Wednesday. It rebounded by the close, but if it falls again in the coming week, shareholders might not exercise clawback rights on around one-third of the deal, leaving investors in the bookbuild perhaps holding more stock than they thought they would.
