The region recorded a 40% slump in announced M&A activity year-on-year in the first quarter of 2009 as financing issues took their toll. Singapore has been the most acquisitive nation this year, accounting for 61% of outflow, followed by China and South Korea, while Australia is the most targeted nation for investors outside Asia.
