China economist Ting Lu, of Bank of America Securities-Merrill Lynch, says up to US$50 billion in foreign capital flowed into the country in the second quarter. While this will increase appreciation pressure on the renminbi, he expects the central bank to dampen expectations to keep the currency stable against the US dollar this year.
