Staff cuts fail to prevent UBS loss
The Swiss bank reported a US$1.3 billion loss between April and June despite a 4,400 reduction in headcount, including almost 700 in Asia-Pacific. Its international private banking operations continued to leak assets, although these were partially offset by Asian inflows, while it also saw good demand for equity-linked instruments in the region.
