The importance to banks of corporate equity derivatives desks amid subdued primary ECM activity was brought home this week by a rare publically announced deal, International Airlines Group’s hedging of its €553m stake in Amadeus IT Holdings. Many more deals have been taking place entirely in private — and market conditions will prompt even more structured equity flow, say bankers.
