Concerns over SA credit growth as Capitec launches rights issue

Fast-growing South African unsecured lender Capitec Bank Holdings this week set out plans to raise R2.24bn ($272m) in a rights issue, its third equity raise in under two years, to increase lending and add branches. Some analysts and investors worry rapid expansion at Capitec and rivals such as African Bank could be the beginnings of a credit bubble.
