The summer of 2012 will be remembered for the discovery of the Higgs boson, a Brit winning the Tour de France for the first time and the resounding success of the Games of the 30th Olympiad in London. For investors in Gilts, events also took on an historic hue when yields plummeted to their lowest level since the reign of Queen Anne.
