Opinion: China’s banks are in danger of misusing CDSs
The country is hurrying to get onshore credit default swaps (CDSs) up and running but it may be doing this for the wrong reasons, at least in the short term. There is a strong risk that banks will use the derivatives merely as a way to continue their aggressive lending activities rather than as a simple risk mitigation tool.
