RBS investment bank overshadowed by PPI and group loss
Royal Bank of Scotland’s investment banking businesses posted operating profits of £295m for the third quarter, rebounding from a £348m loss in the same period last year. But as with third quarter results at its UK peers, this was overshadowed by a pre-tax loss for the group and another hefty provision to cover payment protection insurance compensation.
