Air Products and Chemicals, the US industrial gases group, announced its first euro bond issue for six years on Wednesday morning, but what looked set to be a strong and easy sale was thrown off track just as the book was closing when news broke that activist hedge fund Pershing Square Capital Management had bought a 9.8% stake in the company.
