Basel Committee turns focus towards inconsistencies in internal RWA models
The disparity of internal models used to calculate bank risk weights is among the main threats to greater consistency in global financial regulation, Wayne Byres, secretary general of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, told attendees at the RiskMinds Risk and Regulation Forum in France on Tuesday. The Committee is looking at a range of measures, including constraints on model parameters, to achieve better consistency in internally calculated risk weights.
