Bharti breaks new ground with euro debut
Bharti Airtel made a brilliant entry into the euro market this week, printing a €750m ($1bn) five year bond tighter than where it could have come in dollars. Although the Indian telecoms company is by no means the first Asian issuer to take advantage of a resurgent euro market, it has proved that strong borrowers do not need state ownership to draw in investment grade accounts.
