StanChart hires Citi duo for ECLiPSe division

Standard Chartered has created a new client-focused unit within its financial markets business which operates under the acronym ECLiPSe. The bank has appointed two former Citi bankers as co-heads for the group who are based in London and Singapore.

The execution, clearing, liquidity and portfolio services unit will provide a range of services which relate to OTC derivatives including pricing and execution, client clearing and access to liquidity as well as providing advice on global derivatives regulation.

Andrew Sterry and Luke Brereton, who are based on London and Singapore respectively, have been made co-heads of ECLiPSe. They report to Neh Thaker, global head, options trading and platforms.

Sterry has held a number of client servicing roles at firms including Deutsche Bank and Lehman Brothers. He was most recently European head of OTC clearing at Citi based in London, where his job included assessing the impact of European regulation on clients.

Brereton also joined StanChart from Citi in London, where he was European head of origination for Citi futures and OTC clearing. He has also held roles at RBS and ABN Amro.

Supporting Sterry and Brereton is Brett Reeves, who is head of technical sales. Based in London, Reeves was most recently director of OTC client clearing at Commerzbank.

SG creates Asia credit sales team

Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking has formed a new credit sales team in Asia which will work with the bank’s trading and debt capital markets units to provide services to issuers and institutional investors.

Leading the team is Pierre Trecourt, newly appointed head of credit sales for Asia, who was previously head of fixed income and institutions for Société Générale’s Cross Asset Solutions (SOL) business in Asia. He reports to Yann Garnier, head of fixed income and currencies, and SOL sales, Asia Pacific.

The French bank also made a series of hires in September and October who will support Trecourt.

Jimmy Ye joined as director and head of credit sales for Asia ex-Japan and is for the overall distribution of the bank’s credit products. Prior to joining SG, Ye was head of credit sales for China at Nomura.

Director Bernardina Suen primarily covers Hong Kong accounts with key focus on real money investors. She has held similar positions at ANZ Bank and Credit Suisse in Hong Kong before joining SG.

Meanwhile, Jean Gan is a director and head of credit sales for Southeast Asia. She worked at UBS and JP Morgan before joining the bank, and was looking after the fixed income products for the banks’ Singapore and Malaysia markets.

Finally, Toshihiko Sugihara, joined SG ‘s Tokyo as managing director and head of credit Sales for Japan in October. He was previously at BNP Paribas Securities (Japan) where he was co-head of its Tokyo syndicate team.

HSBC hires for India commercial coverage

HSBC has hired a Morgan Stanley banker for its newly created position of head of commercial banking coverage, capital financing, India,

Vikas Khattar will be responsible for developing and leading the coverage strategy for commercial banking clients in India.

He joins from Morgan Stanley where he was a managing director heading global capital markets for India. Khattar began his banking career with Merrill Lynch in 1996 and has also worked at Citigroup as head of equity capital markets.

Based in Mumbai, Khattar will be part of the global capital financing team and will report locally to Sandeep Uppal, head of commercial banking for India and functionally to Rod Sykes, head of commercial banking coverage, capital financing, Asia-Pacific.

Natixis appoints Asia FICC chief

Natixis has bolstered its Asia Pacific offering with senior hires from Australia and New Zealand Bank and Credit Industriel et Commercial.

Yuri Lin has been appointed managing director, head of sales, fixed income, commodities & treasury, Asia Pacific. He reports locally to Serge Ekué, head of global markets, Asia Pacific and functionally to Alain Gallois, global head of debt platform & fixed income and treasury sales.

Lin started his finance career in 1996 and was with Lehman Brothers in Tokyo and Hong Kong from 2001 to 2006. He then joined BNP Paribas in 2006 as managing director, head of credit sales, Asia Pacific. In 2011, he joined ANZ Hong Kong as head of fixed income sales, northeast Asia and global head of hedge fund credit sales.

Meanwhile, Daniel Yap has been appointed regional head of financial institutions and public sector coverage, Asia Pacific. He reports locally to François Riahi, CEO Asia Pacific and functionally to Guillaume de Saint-Seine, global head of financial institutions and public sector coverage.

Yap’s career includes spells at ABN Amro, Barclays , Nomura and Standard Chartered. Most recently he was appointed managing director, non-bank financial institutions coverage, Asia at Credit Industriel et Commercial (CIC) earlier this year.

Fox joins BAML futures and options team

Rob Fox has joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch as vice president, futures & options and OTC clearing. Based in Hong Kong he becomes part of the bank’s Asia Pacific futures marketing team and will report to Craig Robertson, head of marketing Asia Pacific, futures & options and OTC Clearing

Prior to joining BAML, he held roles in client services and sales with Goldman Sachs in London and New York and with UBS in Hong Kong.
