NAB fills cash-rich sterling demand with short floater
National Australia Bank broke the sterling supply drought this week when it became the first bank to issue a large sterling benchmark covered bond since January. The borrower and leads were surprised by the demand from cash-laden sterling investors, who provided funding at much cheaper levels than would have been possible in either the euro or dollar covered bond markets.
