‘Sheriff of Wall Street’ launches new MBS probe
Self-appointed "Sheriff of Wall Street" Eric Schneiderman, the New York Attorney General, has launched another investigation into US pre-crisis securitisation practices, requesting information from Bank of America, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, and requesting meetings with bank representatives.
Schneidermans office has not commented publicly on the investigation, nor has he announced which aspects of the securitisation process he is scrutinising.
Attorneys general for 50 states are negotiating with several of the largest US banks over robo-signing and foreclosure title disputes.
