Iberdrola exceeds target in €904m buyback

Iberdrola, the Spanish power group, has closed its bond buyback at an increased size of €904m, achieving a big reduction in the redemptions it faces in 2013 and 2014.

The high take-up for the offer, in which Barclays acted as intermediary to buy the bonds from investors, means Iberdrola has been able to use nearly all the money it raised in its €1bn bond issue on March 27, which was synchronised with the start of the buyback.
