Popolare and Bank Austria flops leave bankers puzzled
Market participants were left struggling to understand what happened to deals from Banco Popolare and UniCredit Bank Austria this week, after the borrowers pulled deals even as a clutch of other issuers printed senior benchmarks.
Notable successes on the very same day included Intesa Sanpaolo and Van Lanschot, which were both able to tighten their deals on the back of strong demand.
