Barclays Capital and JP Morgan are arranging and underwriting a new circa £400m debt facility backing Premier International Foods' acquisition of Nestlé's UK and Irish ambient-temperature food businesses. Premier International Foods, which is owned by US-based Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst, has made a £135m offer for the assets. The businesses are said to be worth between £110m and £120m. Néstle had planned to auction the businesses off, but the offer by Premier, at a premium to other bids, may have stalled that process. UBS Warburg has been advising Néstle on auctioning the UK and Irish businesses.

ABN Amro (joint bookrunner), Citigroup/SSSB (joint bookrunner) and Fortis Bank have launched the Eu1.4bn multi-currency credit facility for the world's second largest brewer, Interbrew, into syndication. Banks have been invited to join as arrangers committing Eu120m for 17.5bp and as co-arrangers committing Eu60m for 12.5bp.

The $25m one year facility for the Development Bank of Kazakhstan will be launched into syndication on Monday. Mandated arranger for the deal is ING.

Some 13 banks have joined syndication of the £30m three year facility for Kent Reliance Building Society. The deal has been closed heavily oversubscribed and banks will be signed in once final allocations have been worked out.

The arranger group for the $150m one year term loan for Hana Bank has been decided with Barclays Capital, Citigroup/SSB, Crédit Lyonnais, DBS Bank, Standard Chartered and First Union Bank winning the mandate. The facility will be available in US dollars or Hong Kong dollars. Launch will take place next week.

Syndication of the $100m three year facility for United Bank of Kuwait (UBK) has been closed, after being well received in the market. Mandated arrangers are HSBC and Commerzbank.
