Tucker supports Liikanen call for sub debt bonuses

Paul Tucker, deputy governor of the Bank of England, has backed the Liikanen report’s proposals to pay senior bankers part of their bonuses in subordinated debt as well as equity.

At the annual British Bankers’ Association conference on Wednesday, Tucker said that banks’ leaders needed to have "a significant financial stake not only in the prosperity... but also in the survival of the firm".
