Rules still obstructive to PPs, despite political backing in CMU

Private placements have won the favour of Europe’s political leaders — notably being identified as a market to promote in the Capital Markets Union initiative. But the reality is that regulation remains a hindrance, writes Graham Bippart. Tax laws are a nuisance, but above all, Solvency II is far less friendly to PPs than the insurance regulations in the US.
