Jumbo deals take limelight
A bright end to last week wasn’t reflected in new deal launches on Monday but for most banks, it has been a decent start to 2013 in EMEA equity capital markets. Volume so far has been largely flat on the 2010-2012 period — a little up on 2012, a little down on 2010 and 2011 — but there are better signs for jumbo deals with eight $1bn trades priced so far, 60% more than in 2012, with investors’ focus on liquidity offering a helping hand.
