Ophir pays up for £553m capital raise

Ophir Energy launched a £553.4m capital raise on Monday evening, splitting the deal into a placing and rights issue. It is paying high fees for the underwriting — but investors were focused on the merits of the equity financing which allows the company to fund its drilling programme for another year without having to agree farm-outs.
