UBS: more job cuts, more writedowns but profit pledge rekindles hopes
UBS threw a scrap of hope to shareholders this week when chairman Peter Kurer revealed that the bank would make a small profit in the third quarter, after reporting three consecutive quarterly losses totalling about Sfr25bn ($22bn).
