Maybank bids for brokerage in Singapore
Malayan Banking Corp (Maybank) is eyeing the acquisition of Singaporean brokerage Kim Eng Securities as a way of expanding its investment banking and equities business in Asia. The bank is planning a S$1.79bn ($1.4bn) general offer for Kim Eng’s shares — but first it wants to secure a big stake from two shareholders.
