In the 18th century satirical song, the Vicar of Bray shifted his theological allegiances according to the fashion of the day so he could stay in post. Since its arrival by the Thames 39 years ago The Waterside Inn has seen food fads come and go and has had to cope with the arrival of a noisy neighbour with a big chemistry set. Yet it has stuck resolutely to its gastronomic guns, delivering plate after fabulous plate of classic French cuisine. It is the only restaurant outside of France to hold three Michelin stars for more than 20 years.
