South Africa pushes on with sukuk debut after picking arrangers

The Republic of South Africa's national treasury has asked two consortia led by BNP Paribas and Standard Bank, respectively, to advise it on issuing a debut sovereign sukuk. A local currency and an international deal are possible, with the latter likely to be benchmark size and carry a five-year maturity.
