UK’s non-banks deserve a saviour too

The UK government allowed the growth of the non-bank sector after the global financial crisis, but during the coronavirus pandemic, it has left it to fend for itself.

UK banks have been asked to offer automatic payment holidays to customers during the Covid-19 pandemic, but have been offered a great deal of state help in doing so. Non-bank lenders, which have also had to grant payment holidays have not had the safety net of government support. ...
