Insurers, cap markets brace as Florence makes landfall

With Hurricane Florence descending upon North and South Carolina in the US on Friday, markets will be waiting for the impact on insurance firms and catastrophe bonds.

The US’ National Hurricane Center said that life-threatening storm surges and hurricane-force winds were continuing, with catastrophic flooding expected in parts of North and South Carolina.

More than 250,000 people in North Carolina were reported to have moved out of the way of the storm.
