1st Credit picks private placement for debut HY

European high yield issuers rarely venture into the private placement market, unlike their US cousins. But 1st Credit, a buyer of UK defaulted consumer debt, did just that for its debut bond — a £100m secured seven year non-call three.

The borrower, based in Surrey, is the latest in a series of debt purchasers to have sold high yield bonds over the last year or so — all senior secured, and all with seven year tenors. Lowell Group was the first, with a £200m issue in March 2012. ...
