Imminent ITC step down to boost demand for resi solar

Homeowners in the US are expected to rush to take advantage of the investment tax credit (ITC) for rooftop solar installations ahead of the step-down period that will begin in 2020, said panelists speaking at the Green & SRI Investing Symposium hosted by IMN in New York this week.

“I think we’re going to be pleasantly surprised by resi-solar in general,” said Alex Kaplan, director of capital markets and finance at Mosaic. “The big driver is simple consumer psychology. People are aware of ITC and there’s urgency among people who want to get solar on the roof.”
