Aircraft ABS performance to weaken in 2019

Aviation ABS performance will decline in 2019, hit by by rising credit concerns, late cycle behaviour and stiff competition between a handful of new, smaller lenders.

The aircraft ABS market had a lukewarm end to 2018, with the last deal of the year priced wide. Kestrel Aircraft Funding 2018-1, which came to market mid-December, ended up with a senior tranche spread of 215bp over swaps and its class ‘B’ was priced at 345bp.
