Deutsche Bank has hired Haejin Baek, the commercial mortgage-backed securities trading chief at Nomura Securities International. She tendered her resignation at Nomura and is slated to start trading at Deutsche Bank. Baek had left the firm and could not be reached to comment.Ted Meyer, a spokesman for Deutsche Bank, confirmed the move, but declined further comment pending Baek's arrival at the firm. Deutsche Bank CMBS trading head Justin Kennedy declined to comment.
Several rivals speculated that she was hired by Deutsche Bank to help fill the secondary trading void left by the suspension of Paul Mashikian and Jake Markman for allegedly mispricing some of the firm's trading positions (www.bondweek.com, 11/26).
Jim Lieblich, the head of asset-backed securities at Nomura and Baek's boss, did not return a phone call seeking comment. Baek joined Nomura in March of 2001 and was a director. Prior to that, she was a senior v.p. at Lehman Brothers, where she helped develop the Lehman Brothers CMBS index.
