Bradford&Marzec Rehires Former Bond Chief

Graham Allen, the former fixed-income chief at Wells Capital Management, has rejoined Bradford & Marzec as head of international fixed income.

Graham Allen, the former fixed-income chief at Wells Capital Management, has rejoined Bradford & Marzec as head of international fixed income. Allen had left the Los Angeles buy-sider in 1998 to join Wells. Allen says he replaces Patrice Milton Blue, who left Bradford & Marzec late last year for personal reasons. In addition to his fixed-income duties, Allen also will be a member of Bradford & Marzec's executive committee, which was formed last year. Allen left San Francisco-based Wells last summer.

Allen's arrival comes at a time when the firm is seeking to reposition itself as a strong international fixed-income firm. "We are looking at expanding our business development efforts," says Allen, though he declines to elaborate further. He says one of the factors that brought him back to the firm was its strong recent performance, noting that Bradford & Marzec's core-plus bond strategy outperformed the Lehman Brothers Universal Bond Index by more than 200 basis points last year.
