* Donald MacKinnon has joined Nomura Securities International as a managing director and head of mortgage-backed and asset-backed bonds. He most recently was ceo of a commercial mortgage-backed securities software company and prior to that had been a managing director at Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette. MacKinnon, who will be based in New York, reports to Najib Canaan, head of fixed income. * Michael Normile has joined HSBC Securities as head of the U.S. asset-backed bond business. He joins from Merrill Lynch, where he had been head of asset-backed finance among other departments. The hire is part of the bank's strategy to increase its activities in the U.S. capital markets, with ambitions in the ABS market being part of a broader expansion plan.

* Bill White starts next month at Credit Suisse First Boston as co-head of global debt capital markets along with Paul Tregidgo, the other co-head. White, who resigned last week from a similar role at Morgan Stanley, takes over from Peter Milhaupt, who moves into the role of senior coverage officer within the debt capital markets group, according to an internal CSFB announcement. White will report to Jim Healy and Jerry Wood, co-heads of fixed income. Wood spent his career at Morgan Stanley before joining CSFB last year.
