FTN Financial Group has hired Vernon Outlaw as an investment-grade corporate salesman. The role is a new one. Outlaw started last week and reports to Brian Shapiro, head of sales in New York, according to Sally Pace, a spokeswoman. Outlaw, who previously worked in investment-grade corporates at Utendahl Capital Management, declined to comment and his specific duties at the buy-sider could not be determined. A call to John Utendahl, chairman, was referred to LeRoy Watkins, general counsel at Utendahl. He did not return calls by press time.
