El Paso Structured Finance Official To Leave

Tom Kilgore, a v.p. in structured finance at El Paso, is set to leave the Houston energy firm within the next few weeks. Kilgore is a well-known face in financial circles as he handled all of the specialty and growth-driven financing at El Paso during its expansion in the late 1990s. One industry official says Kilgore's position is being phased out because El Paso is adopting a more conservative growth strategy. Kilgore and Kim Wallace, an El Paso spokewoman, did not return calls by by press time.

Kilgore was one of the central players in El Paso's ground-breaking power purchase agreement monetizations, in which he led the effort to bring these deals to market after the structuring team had crafted and negotiated the deal. Officials familiar with his plans say Kilgore is evaluating work opportunities at other energy companies and also on Wall Street.
