TBMA To Add European Regulatory Council

The Bond Market Association will next week announce the appointment of a senior regulatory council to its international operation in London, according to Micah Green, association president.

The Bond Market Association will next week announce the appointment of a senior regulatory council to its international operation in London, according to Micah Green, association president. "We have been dealing with European regulatory issues out of our Washington, D.C., and New York offices, but will now have a team in London specifically," said Green. He pointed out that following the Enron and Parmalat debacles, financial markets in both the U.S. and Europe have come under increased scrutiny. "There is a heightened need for a global approach to self-regulation and industry initiatives, and the time is right for TBMA to reinforce its European presence," he noted.

TBMA also plans to add several support professionals in London, bringing the total London-based staff to nine or 10. This follows the appointment last week of 17-year UBS fixed income veteran Manfred Schepers in the new position of senior managing director and head of The Bond Market Association, International. TBMA's international operation includes the five staff of its London-based affiliate, the European Securitisation Forum.
